Paul Molitor and Alan Trammell are two of the greatest infielders of their generation, and they both had outstanding rookie seasons. Molitor made his debut with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1978, playing 2B, 3B and SS. He played in 125 games and hit .273 with seven home runs, 30 RBIs, and 30 stolen bases. He quickly established himself as a versatile player with a high baseball IQ and an excellent approach at the plate. Molitor went on to have a HOF career while playing for a number of winning teams.Trammell took over as the Tigers' starting SS and had a breakout year. In ’78, he hit .276 with seven home runs, 27 doubles, and 92 runs scored. He also went on to have a HOF career with the Detroit Tigers.
