Throughout the 1990s, Ken Griffey Jr. was an All-Star Game regular. He was selected to participate in the game in each of his first 11 seasons in the MLB, from 1990 to 2000. He quickly became known for his prodigious power, launching majestic home runs with his smooth left-handed swing. He won the Home Run Derby at the All-Star Game three times (1994, 1998, 1999) and was a frequent contender for the league lead in home runs, hitting 398 home runs in his first 11 seasons. His consistent excellence and popularity among fans established him as one of the league's premier players.
